She Was Left to Die in a Ditch. Today She's Saving Lives.
Luna was found barely breathing in a roadside ditch outside Tirana. Her body was broken, her spirit crushed. Someone had thrown her away like garbage. But this is not a story about cruelty — this is a story about miracles.
When our rescue team received the call, we didn't know if we'd make it in time. Luna had been there for days — no food, no water, exposed to the bitter cold. Her back leg was shattered, probably from being hit by a car. But worse than the physical injuries was the look in her eyes: complete surrender.
"She had given up. She didn't even try to move when we approached."
We rushed her to emergency surgery. The vet said her chances were 50/50. But Luna is a fighter. After three surgeries, weeks of rehabilitation, and countless hours of love from our volunteers, something incredible happened: she started to trust again.
Six months later, thanks to flight volunteer Sarah M., Luna traveled to Berlin. Today, Luna is a certified therapy dog working with traumatized children in a Berlin hospital. The dog who was left to die is now saving lives.
